The Gustavshof wine company is located in the heart of Rheinhessen, about 30 km south of Mainz. It is managed by the Roll family, now the 4th generation is at the helm. It is a classic family business with 18 hectares of vineyard. They have been working according to the guidelines of ecological viticulture since 2004, EcoVin certified in 2007 and since 2012 they have been working biodynamically according to the Demeter guidelines. All wines are made vegan.
When making wine, it is particularly important to Gustavshof that the natural structure of the wine is preserved and that the character of the grapes, the soil and the vintage are reflected in the wines.
They divide the wine assortment into 'Gutsweine', 'Signature' wines and unfiltered natural wines. Pinot gris and riesling are their hobbyhorses, high-quality, sustainable red wines are their passion and rare regional varieties their vocation. But they also like to be innovative.
For example, six years ago they created the dry, sparkling Holunder (elderberry) Secco, which is still unique today, based on biodynamic grape juice and scented with biodynamic elderflower. They also make exceptionally good dry muscat wine (gelber muskateller).
