The Louis de Grenelle cellars are located in the center of Saumur, in the heart of the Loire. Louis de Grenelle (since 1859) is the last major fully independent family business specializing in the making of sparkling wines. The company combines old traditional production methods with modern production methods. Louis de Grenelle has its own special vineyards that guarantee grapes of exceptional quality.
In 1976, the visionary winemaker Hubert Bodet and two business partners took over this then-derelict cellar, contrary to everyone's advice. However, time would eventually prove that those who "dare, work and never give up" (X.Dolan) are right. In 2009, Hubert Bodet passed the baton to his daughter, Françoise Flao, who has been involved in the company since 1983, assisted by her husband, Jean Pierre Flao.
Françoise Flao plans for the future by concentrating on harnessing the artisanal expertise of the winemakers while adding a touch of modernity and innovation. However, Françoise continues to prefer a qualitative method, which has never compromised the characteristic Louis de Grenelle style over the years.
