Description
A pure product from Cahors, made from Malbec supplemented with a few bunches of Merlot. The sincere and hospitable character will tell you a lot about the appellation and its wines. An intense and fresh nose, with blackcurrant, wild pepper and mint. It is a smooth and delicious wine that requires simple and honest food: some grilled vegetables, a creamy polenta with braised meats or aged cheeses. It is a lively wine, full of energy, juicy and inviting. The ideal guest at the table!

The vines of Château du Cèdre are rooted in two different soil types: The terroirs, composed of stony clay and limestone, produce pure wines with fine tannins, while more powerful and concentrated wines come from soils composed of clay, sandy and rich in pebbles.

According to the winemaker's brother Jean-Marc, it was "A millésime comme on en r√™ve", a dream year
. Something that has become rare in recent years. Spring started cool and wet and suddenly changed its mind just before the vines bloomed, bringing more sun and pleasant temperatures. These ideal weather conditions lasted until autumn, interrupted only by some beneficial rainfall in July and August, while the beautiful September ensured that the grapes reached full ripeness. A "stress-free" harvest started on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.

AGEING: 80% of the wine is tank-aged, 20% barrel-aged (2 year old barrels) for 16 to 18 months.

A Cahors company. Not that strict, not that lumpy and leaning forward with the rough elbows. Dark fruit, blackberries, plums, black olives, a trace of liqueur, ripe tannins, plums in juice and soft acids. The prelude to the benchmark du Cèdre.
